View Full Version : Another Pug in the shelter today!!!!!!
Someone in Eastland found this Pug a few weeks ago they took him to the vet to have him checked out and graciously brought him to the shelter...His name is "Bugsy"...he is very sweet and loving...he does however have a few health issues....first of all he was tested and he does have the start of Demodectic mange...this is not contagious and is very treatable...somehow in his short life (est. to be approx 2 yrs old) he is missing one testicle by genetics, he also has a hernia but that does not affect him at all...the one testicle however could lead as in all dogs with this condition a uncertain future when it comes to Cancer...it is a possibility but not a probability. Bugsy really needs a home that will take care of him and take care of him immediately...at the shelter we will be really picky as to who gets to adopt him...he is available for immediate adoption.

By the way... The word mange might scare some people away, but you shouldn't worry!
I had a dog with it and like ACO said its very very treatable...
Just a simple bath in Iodine did the trick for my dog.. Whenever she would start to break out a bath once a day for a few days and it would go right away!

My big eared Arny had that type of mange, I used Promeris as prescribed by the vet and he is fine now. They said that all dogs carry that mite but that it doesn't affect them sometimes until thy are under stress. AND since Arny was one of the 5 rescued at the lake by past ACO J. Arnett (thus Arny's name) I'm sure he was very stressed.
"Bugsy" is a real sweetheart....and he really needs someone to take care of him....he has alot of love to give to someone who would love him...if your unsure or just thinking about it please come by the Eastland Shelter and see him...or if you are just concerned about him make a donation to cover some treatment for him or you want to foster him and get him in good health......anything...this little guy is deserving of some love.

Woot! A big thanks to KKinnard for fostering Bugsy!!!! He's such a good little pug. I know he'll be in good foster care with his foster mom.
If anyone would like to make a donation towards Bugsy's upcoming vet bills, please PM me here or call 254.653.7607. He's a great guy, but he needs some vet TLC.
Again, thanks so much KKinnard for fostering him!!!! :huggs::kiss:
Thank YOU KKinnard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
