what is the optimal time for planting pumpkins, gourds, & ornamental squash (winter) in time for the fall display season?

Any other advice (good advice or what not to do advice) that would help me would be greatly appreciated. Been reading up on some general things about them but dates that would insure no kill for a late freeze for this area would help me out. Most of the things I've read aren't necessarily for this area. Thanks in advance.

I've tried in July in prior years...but this zone is not very tolerent for said plants...too dern hot...if I was in Colorado or Iowa no problem...good luck and don't forget about the fire ants and when there is a dry hot drought of a dog days of summer forget it...they get thirsty too...

Cyotefishing, how do you know when it is time to pick the seeds the angel trumpets make? And you know what? Mine have two different kinds of seeds. Some are round and some are about an inch long. I thought that was kind of strange. Is it?

Where do you want to go? Any place in particular? When the seed head feels dry, pop it off and keep it in a cool dry and dark place til spring. Ifin I can get away for lunch Wednesday, don't matter. Long as they have a diet plate....lol

I had a dream last year of having this big old pumpkin patch to pick from in September....I had water from my pond but lordy it was hot last summer...We had some really nice pumpkins of all kinds but the hot sun just cooked them...They were ready back in August and I managed to save 5 ..that`s all....I am going to try again this year..maybe with better luck...I think it is really to hot in Texas...
We don`t have as much trouble raising Bird House gourds or any of the smaller oranmental squashes...You just plant after all danger of frost is gone....I`ll find the Texas Planting guide that we have used in the past on the internet..... GOOD LUCK...just maybe we will not be as hot this summer as last summer...
